(I'm testing out blogit via my iPhone).
I'm in virginia with the boys. Been here for couple of weeks now. Miss Ray terribly. One more week and we will be reunited in Miami on the cruise. Yeah! Although the boys miss Ray they are having a blast spending all this time with the family. Tyler shadows his 8 year old cousin, Linh, night and day. He's going to have major separation anxiety when we have to to back home.
We were in So Cal for a week to spend some time with the family. We finally got to meet my newest nephew, Jacob. Needless to say, he is cuter than words and just so perfect with that brand new baby smell.
Top is a photo of Tyler, Carter and my younger brother, John. Tyler loves his Uncle John. He is the cool uncle. Bottom is Tyler playing mini bowling at this place called John's Incredible Pizza in Montclair, CA. It's like Chuck E Cheese's on steroids. Bigger and better with more rides and food selection but with out the scary mascots or mechanical doll shows. Ray liked that they served beer. I liked that they had glow in the dark mini golf and mini bowling.
We finally gave him a haircut and since then only one person thought he was a girl as opposed to everyone we meet. Here is an after photo of him. Despite how long it looks in the photo, we took off at least 3 inches - believe it or not. Besides the length, he just had soooo much hair. We spent about a week down in LA at my mom's and she did the handy the work, just as she use to cut Tyler's. Check out my photo album for more photos. Ray took some really great shots. Well, he better with that fancy digital SLR camera of his!
Couple of nights ago as Tyler and I were walking down the stairs in our house, he yelled, "Last one down is a rotten egg!" So I yelled back, "First one down gets strawberry ice cream!" The race was on. Usually, I fall just a couple of steps behind but lately I noticed he's become such a sore loser with his friends that I decided to make it tied race.
Me: "Tied! We both win!"
Tyler: "No, mommy! I win! I win!"
Me: "Tyler, it's ok. We both won so we can both have ice cream."
Tyler: "No, mommy. I get the ice cream. You're going to have another baby eating too much!"
Oh, Tyler, if babies were really created that way, you wouldn't be my first child. Regardless, we both had ice cream!
Speaking of races, why didn't anyone tell me that boys are so competitive? He and his little friend compete at everything!
It's official - Carter is finally crawling. May 14th. Just few days past his 10 month birthday. We thought he was going to skip crawling and move straight into walking, but after much persuasion and coaxing he finally did it. You can see how "happy" he was about having to come to me and not vice versa.
Yes, I know I mixed up that phrase, but that's the point. As a parent, I always wonder if I'm saying the right things or giving the right answers, but some days are just comical. Tyler is so curious about everything these days. I'm realizing how much I take for granted and how much I don't know and some times do know.
Tyler: Mommy, is today tomorrow?
Me: (Huh?) No, tomorrow will be after we sleep one night.
Tyler: Remember Nicholas said yesterday, "You can come over my house tomorrow."
Me: Yes, then today would have been tomorrow yesterday. (double HUH?)
Tyler: So today is tomorrow?
Me: (Urgh....) Kind of. Today is the day Nicholas was talking about yesterday.
Tyler: So I can go over to his house?
Me: Yes! (save me!)
So I realize I'm not writing as much about Carter. It's just that he isn't talking just yet but he is grunting a lot. He tries to get our attention by grunting. Actually, it sounds more like, "eh eh". He's not quite crawling - more like sliding around. Slides backwards very well. Let's see what else? Has two bottom teeth and two on the top just broke through couple of days ago. Needless to say, we haven't getting much sleep at night. This is him trying to crawl. He will be exactly 10 months on the 10th of this month.
Yesterday I heard Ray's motorcycle pulling in the garage so I got up and headed towards the front door yelling, "Daddy's home!". Tyler jumped up and asked, "You gonna make rice, mommy?" Can we be more Asian?
Tyler's a really picky eater. He likes his pasta plain and likes only a handful of dishes. In hopes of setting a good example every opportunity I get I would say, "Sure, I'll try that. I'm not picky." So that's the background.
We went out for breakfast one morning and Tyler couldn't decide between plain and blueberry pancakes. Here's what he said:
Tyler: Mommy, I'll get the plain pancakes and you get the blueberry pancakes and we can share. OK?
Me: Well, sorry, Tyler. I'm not in the mood for blueberry pancakes.
Tyler: Yes, mommy, you order blueberry pancakes. Remember you're not a picky eater?
